We were all waiting for it... William Trubridge did it

After a 3'25'' dive, he surfaced clean, and was able to make his protocol quickly.

Under water, he looked very clean and in control, with his classical 'gliding' style.
Huge Performance from William.

This same day Dave Mullins was trying to do 111m in CWT : After a 4'14'' dive (!!!) he surfaced in a serious samba, and was not able to do his surface protocol in the official 15''...
Some speed problems to fix. Discussing with him after his dive, he told me that his ascent lasted 2'45'' ... Wooowww, that's way to long ;-) !

Personnaly, I announced 70m in CNF today, after a very good warm-up, I was ready to go and feeling good. Unfortunately, I probably 'packed' a bit too much or had a low blood pressure today... At official top, I was feeling almost in 'packing Black-out' and began to go down slowly. At 15m when i realized where i was, seeing lots of stars, I definitely choose not to take any risk... I went down to 30m and back up slowly !
Better luck next time for me !

This was my last day in the Bahamas. I am going back to Geneva tomorrow early.

I Hope that you enjoyed this trip with me !

PS: If you need any information, in french, about the terms CNF,CWT,FIM... Go on this site : plongeur.com

Today was a rest day for me.

I then took the opportunity to do some safety and take a look at the others.

William Winram announced 84m... A tentative for a WR in CNF.
I coached him for this dive : unfortunately he had to turn at 64m... Feeling the urge to breathe too early
Better luck next time for him.

Still 2 attempts possible for him. (leaving on monday and resting tomorrow)

I safetied William Trubridge on a 101m FIM dive (very close to WR). He had to turn early because of equalization problems... 97m.

Then, I safetied Dave mullins : 'Moby dick' had announced a 108m dive in CWT... (very close to WR)...

His dive was clean and very easy. He finally came up 30 seconds later than announced, and i had to wait at 20m for him.
Hopefully I could hear the sound of his monofin doing 'clong, clong' and knew that he was still finning up.
He is impressive, i have no doubt that if everything goes allright, he will 'explode' the WR of Herbert Nitsch (113m) during the next days...

Probably some hard work for Guillaume Nery ;-) !

Tomorrow he announced 111m in CWT...
William Trubridge announced 84m in CNF : new WR possible

and me.... A deep CNF... But I keep the suspense ! ;-)

Guillaume and Julie left us for France today.
Tomorrow is my last day here...

Stay tuned !
And check official results on William's Trubridge verticalblue site !

I made it this morning !!

Feeling really relaxed, with a very bad weather : lot of wind and rain and a bad underwater visibility (5m) ...

After a delay of one hour in my dive due to some person that went away with the car ... And my equipment inside !!
I easily Did 62m in Constant No Fins. No equipment, just breastroke movements, in 2'45''.
the video of my bottom turn : link

I am very happy about this result as I missed the same depth yesterday, because of poor equalization (I had to turn at 57m)

Today, William Winram after 91m in FIM announcement, had to turn earlier (70m)
Yesterday, Guillaume Nery after 90m in CWT announcement, had to turn earlier (70m)

The conditions are not ideal, and lots of dive are not succesful because of early turns (ears, bad conditions,...) !
But the surface exits are clean in the overall.

After one day of stop due to my blocked sinuses... I went back to training.

Saturday, as I was feeling a bit sick, was technically oriented. Series of low depth training, in a quiet way.
For a test in CNF (go down and up without fins, breastroke technic), I do 58m easily (2m far from my French National Record)...
Surprised by this result, it gives me more confidence for the next training.

Sunday is depth oriented, and I decide to do an attempt at 85m in CWT (with fins).
Unfortunately i have to turn at 76m due to equalization... I really need to work this out again and again.
My no depth training for 5 months is paid 'cash' here.
I will have to stay in reasonable depth for the competition. My ears wont let me go further.

But, I was feeling very good for the rest, apnea time in particular. This gives me more confidence for the next dives.

Today is a rest day, we will go to help to set-up the line system for the competition in the bluehole. And try to make some nice videos. we hope that the visibility is going to be good.
The weather is turning very fast here, and after a beautiful sun, storms quickly come and lower down the water visibility dramatically.

Competition officially starts tomorrow, my next post will be dedicated to annoucements of the athletes ...

New World records are going to be announced for sure.... Stay Tuned !
